Early Life
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles grew up in Houston, where she began performing in singing and dance competitions as a child. In the 1990s she joined the girl group that became Destiny's Child, which was managed by her father, Mathew Knowles.
Career
Destiny's Child became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time before Beyoncé launched a solo career with Dangerously in Love (2003), which included “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy”. Her later albums include Lemonade (2016), Renaissance (2022) and Cowboy Carter (2024), which won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2025. She starred in films including Dreamgirls (2006), founded the company Parkwood Entertainment, and released the concert film Homecoming (2019).
Legacy
Beyoncé has won more Grammy Awards than any other artist, and her tours and visual albums have been widely credited with raising the scale of pop performance. She is married to the rapper and businessman Jay-Z, with whom she has three children.
