Early Life
Eldrick Tont Woods was a child prodigy who appeared on national television as a toddler and won three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles (1994–1996) before turning professional.
Career
He won the 1997 Masters by 12 strokes and by 2001 held all four major titles at once, the so-called “Tiger Slam”. He won 15 majors, including five Masters, and spent a record number of weeks as world No. 1. After a series of back surgeries he won the 2019 Masters, his first major in 11 years, and in 2021 he was seriously injured in a car crash.
Legacy
Woods received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2021. He established the TGR Foundation to support education.
